There’s a common frustration among online creators, and that’s the feeling that you’re spinning your wheels but not going anywhere.
You’re pressing the accelerator but the needle isn’t moving.
You’re pedaling your bike but not making any headway.
You’re hammering the metal but not making a dent.
(Get what I’m saying?)
Many content creators feel they post day after day after day and see zero results. No follower growth, no additional DMs, no additional likes and comments.

Yeah, I’ve been there. It’s certainly a struggle. And this mindset almost always leads to burnout.
Because … what’s the point of posting if nothing is happening?
But …
Is It True?
I’ve adopted a new habit of asking a simple question every time I have a belief about myself.
Is it true?
Is it true that your efforts aren’t resulting in any growth?
In order to answer that, you first need to establish your goals … goals that are actually attainable.
Your goal should not be to grow your following because that’s a goal you have zero control over. Results will be sporadic, which means you’ll feel bad whenever you don’t reach that goal.
For example, you may think, “I didn’t reach my goal of gaining 1000 followers this month and therefore I’m a failure.”
Is it true?
The obvious answer is no, of course. Who decided that gaining 1000 followers is the only measure of success? You did, and it’s an arbitrary number. Using this metric as your own measure of success discredits all of the hard work you actually did.
Try These True Statements Instead
Whenever you feel yourself thinking, “What’s the point of posting if nothing is happening?”
Remind yourself of these true statements:
- I practice and refine my skills with each post I create.
- I’m building up my content library with each post.
- Each post is a chance to learn more about what my audience likes.
- My content doesn’t have to go viral to be valuable.
- Each post is like a billboard for my brand. People see it even if they don’t interact.
- If I’m posting, then something is happening. The only way for nothing to happen is if I give up.
Finally, always remember this truth: If you’re creating, then “something” is happening.
