Have you watched The Social Dilemma on Netflix? I highly recommend it if you use social media as part of your marketing strategy. It certainly gave me a lot to think about!
If you’re not aware of this documentary, it features tech experts from social media companies (Facebook, Instagram, X, etc) talking about the impact and the inherent dangers of social media.

I think we all know that social media can be addicting. I always joke that I start to sweat a bit if I’m too far away from my phone!
But, I still believe social media has done more good than harm for me personally, and society at large. I’ve met some really great friends through social media, and social media has made it possible for me to connect with clients and start my own business!
I love the way social media brings people together who otherwise would never meet IRL.
However, it’s always recommended to use social media in moderation. The same way you wouldn’t sit in front of the TV all day, you shouldn’t stare at your phone all day.
Here are a few tips for managing your social media use!
- Social Media can be a part of your life but not your WHOLE life, and it can be part of your business marketing strategy but not your WHOLE strategy.
- Remember to set boundaries with your social media scrolling (for both personal AND business). Set timers to help you!
- Create a social media schedule for your business so you’re not stuck staring at the screen wondering what to do. (My printable weekly planner can help with this!)
- It’s so important to take breaks from social media. I personally try to take Sundays off. Or take a long break if your mental health needs it.
- Unfollow or mute anything that doesn’t make you feel good.
- Above all, remember your self worth is not measured by likes and comments!
Have a great rest of the week, and I’ll see you online (but in moderation)!
